Enudium: Skin Built to Last

By AMP Beauty · Oct 6, 2026 · 3 min read

Meet Khamissa, the founder pairing African ethnobotanicals with modern science for skin that's protected, hydrated, balanced and even, from face to body.

Founder Stories · Brand Spotlight

Be honest: is your skincare built for how your skin looks today, or for how you want it to look in 20 years? Enudium founder Khamissa built her brand around the second question, using African plants most of the beauty world has never heard of.

“My goal is for you to look in the mirror in 20 years and love what you see.”
— Khamissa, Founder, Enudium

Meet the founder behind Enudium, the barrier-first skincare line that pairs African ethnobotanicals with modern cosmetic science, face to body.

Khamissa, founder of Enudium

A gap she couldn't ignore

Khamissa grew up in Chad. Enudium started with a frustration she describes plainly in an interview with Africa Global News: “Initially, it started from my frustration with the lack of high-quality beauty products available in Africa after returning from the UAE where I discovered niche and high-quality products.”

She went looking for high-end skincare made in Africa and found very few options. So she decided to make it herself.

It started with her mother's oil

In 2018, her mother introduced her to Balanites fruit oil. The fruit, known as Heglig in Chad, was one Khamissa grew up eating. The oil softened her skin, and that sent her into the scientific research on the plant and on other African botanicals, many of which thrive in harsh climates.

She studied aromatherapy and organic skincare formulation, kept researching ingredients and actives, and partnered with expert cosmetic chemists in South Africa, where every Enudium product is made. Together they tested each formula for stability and efficacy against EU conformity standards. Balanites oil is in the Firming Cream today.

“I know there is more to Africa than Shea butter and coconut oil.”
— Khamissa, to Africa Global News

What's in a name

On the Africa Fashion Tour podcast, Khamissa explained the name. “Ennu” comes from the Akan language of West Africa and is the name given to a fifth child. “Dium” means bathed in divine light. Together, Enudium is the illuminated fifth child.

Four pillars of healthy skin

Every Enudium formula is built around four pillars: skin that is protected, hydrated, balanced and even. Instead of packing in dozens of extracts at tiny percentages, each product focuses on a handful of hero actives. The formulas are fragrance-free and cruelty-free, and the brand follows EU regulations that ban more than 1,300 ingredients known or suspected to be harmful.

Enudium also sources with care. Its Moabi butter comes from a sustainable development initiative that gives local communities a reason to protect the Moabi tree, which has been overharvested for timber, instead of cutting it down.
