Founder Stories · Brand Spotlight

Quick question: how much of your serum ends up on your fingertips instead of your face? Most of us never think about it. Raana Kashani Gregg had to, several times a day, while caring for her baby son's skin. What she noticed turned into a patented skincare tool.

“I scoured the Internet for an application tool to solve these problems, but there was none. So, LUNAESCENT was born!”
— Raana Kashani Gregg, Founder & CEO, Lunaescent

Meet the attorney, mom and inventor behind Lunaescent, and the touch-free applicator that keeps fingers out of your skincare for good.

A problem hiding in plain sight

When Raana's son was diagnosed with severe food allergies and eczema as a toddler, applying medicated cream became part of every day. She used her fingers, like most parents do, and quickly saw the flaw.

As she told Auratherapy: “When I applied his steroid cream with my fingers, I noticed that a significant amount was being absorbed by my skin (eventually triggering dermatitis on my fingers) leaving me with no transparency as to exactly how much medicine he was receiving.”

Her own routine had the same problem. She was “frustrated with how inefficient (and unhygienic, even when washed)” her fingers were for applying skincare. Existing applicators wasted product and lacked precision. Nothing on the market fixed it, so she decided to build the fix herself.

From attorney to inventor

Raana didn't come from the beauty industry. She went from a science-minded student to a practicing lawyer, and she's a mother of two. Getting Lunaescent right took years of research, testing and redesigns, and the result is a patented touch-free skincare delivery system.

The persistence runs deep. Before she ever launched a brand, she lived through more upheaval than most people face in a lifetime:

“Having gone through three major geographical moves, revolution, war, political persecution, immigration, and other personal upheavals, I have come to appreciate how resiliency has allowed me to plan and move forward for a better future.”

Today, Lunaescent is used by skincare professionals, medical professionals, luxury spas and makeup artists, as well as everyday skincare lovers.

Why your fingers are the weak link

We spend real money choosing the right serum, SPF and moisturizer, then apply them with the least hygienic tool we own. Every dip into a jar can bring oils and bacteria into the formula, and your fingertips soak up product before it ever reaches your face.

Lunaescent was designed to fix that:

  • No fingers: product goes from the pad straight to your skin, not into your fingertips
  • No germs: the platinum-grade silicone pads are non-porous, so there's nowhere for bacteria to build up
  • No waste: the non-absorbent pad helps you use less product, so your favorite formulas last longer

How to use it: Drop. Glide. Rinse.

Step 1: Drop it

Pick the smooth pad for applying or the textured pad for massaging, then add your serum, cream, makeup or ointment. Use the gold spatula to lift product out of jars without touching it.

Step 2: Glide it

Apply and massage onto skin. The pivoting head follows every contour of your face. Chill it for a wake-up depuff in the morning, or warm it for a relaxing massage at night.

Step 3: Rinse it

Wash with soap and water at the end of your routine, then let it air dry. Done.

It works with almost anything you put on your skin: serums, sunscreen, makeup, facial oils, masks, topical medicine and even diaper cream.

Her nightly ritual

For Raana, the tool she built has also become her daily reset:

“While I apply and massage my face with my oils and serums, I reflect on the day, absorb lessons, and form a plan of action for the next day.”

What customers are saying

“I love this skincare applicator! It's perfect for sunscreen, serums and my expensive moisturizers. Love how easily it is to clean and how versatile it is.”
— Lynn P., 5 stars

“Total game-changer! From the moment I used it, I noticed a huge difference in how my serums and moisturizers absorbed. The applicator feels luxurious and the cooling tip is incredibly soothing on the skin (especially in the morning!).”
